Devocional Jóvenes Agosto 10 - Declaración de (In) Dependencia

Confía de todo corazón en el Señor y no en tu propia inteligencia (Proverbios 3:5).

Hace algunos años, mientras los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica celebraba el bicentenario d

e su independencia, un grupo de jóvenes en Washington D.C. publicó una «Declaración de dependencia». En ese documento afirmaban que es necesario que todo joven para alcanzar su pleno desarrollo como persona, dependa de Dios, y que la vida únicamente tiene sentido cuando el ser humano la coloca en las manos de su Creador (Raymond Woolsey, Alegría matinal, p. 191).
¡Mejor, imposible! ¿Cómo podemos mostrar hoy una actitud semejante a la de este grupo de muchachos? Al reconocer que Dios, el Soberano de todo el universo, nos creó a su imagen y semejanza. Al creer que ese Dios nos ama tanto que entregó a su único Hijo para salvarnos.
Alguien podría decirte que al entregar tu vida a Dios estás renunciando a tu libertad. Pero, pregunto: de las cosas que de verdad valen la pena en esta vida, ¿cuáles pierde un joven que elige vivir dependiendo de Dios?
Por otra parte, ¿qué gana un joven que prefiere usar su cuerpo, su tiempo y sus recursos, por ejemplo, consumiendo drogas; o en relaciones sexuales fuera del matrimonio? De las cosas que verdaderamente valen en esta vida, no obtiene absolutamente nada. Lo que sí recibe es lo que nadie desea ni a su peor enemigo: enfermedad, frustración, pérdida de amigos valiosos, sufrimiento e incluso la muerte.
Sin lugar a dudas, la elección más sabia de tu vida consiste en acordarte de tu Creador «en los días de tu juventud» (Ecl. 12:1). Esta es la única clase de dependencia que vale la pena, porque aunque no sabes qué te reserva el futuro, sí sabes en manos de quien está el futuro.
¿Qué tal, entonces, si a partir de este momento entregas a Dios tu vida: tus sueños, tus proyectos personales, tus problemas, tus dudas, y le permites que la dirija según sus divinos propósitos? La cita que sigue da una excelente razón para esto:
«DIOS NO GUÍA JAMÁS A SUS HIJOS DE OTRO MODO QUE EL QUE ELLOS MISMOS ESCOGERÍAN, SI PUDIERAN VER EL FIN DESDE EL PRINCIPIO» El ministerio de curación, p. 380.
Señor, ayúdame a confiar en ti de todo corazón, y no a depender de mí propia inteligencia.

AUGUST 10 - STATEMENT (IN) DEPENDENCE

Wholeheartedly trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

Some years ago, while the United States celebrated the bicentennial of its independence, a youth group in Washington DC published a "declaration of dependence." The document stated that it is necessary that all young to achieve their full potential as a person, depends on God, and that life makes sense only when the human being placed in the hands of his Creator (Raymond Woolsey, Joy Morning, p. 191).

Good as it gets! How can we show today an attitude similar to that of this group of guys? Recognizing that God, the Sovereign of the universe, created us in His image and likeness. By believing that God loves us so much that he gave his only Son to save us.
Someone might tell you to give your life to God you're giving up your freedom. But, wonder of the things that really are worthwhile in this life, what a young man loses choose to live according to God?
On the other hand, what's a young man who prefers to use his body, his time and resources, for example, using drugs, or sex outside of marriage? Of the things that really are worth in this life, do not get anything. What I get is that nobody wants or your worst enemy, disease, frustration, loss of valuable friends, suffering and even death.
Without doubt, the wisest choice of your life is to remember your Creator "in the days of thy youth" (Ecclesiastes 12:1). This is the only kind of dependency that is worthwhile, because even if you do not know what the future holds, do you know in whose hands lies the future.
What, then, if from this time give to God your life, your dreams, your personal projects, your problems, your questions and direct you as you allow your divine purpose? The following quotation gives an excellent reason for this:
'GOD GUIDE YOUR CHILDREN NEVER OTHERWISE THE SAME THEY choose, IF THEY COULD SEE THE END FROM THE BEGINNING "The Ministry of Healing, p. 380.
Lord, help me to trust you with all my heart, and not to rely on my own intelligence.
